2004 Annual Meeting
March 2-3, 2004, Fall Creek Falls State Park
The Tennessee Chapter AFS annual meeting was held this year at Fall Creek Falls State
Park. Twenty two papers were presented over the two-day period by students and professionals
alike on a wide variety of topics.
Vic DiCenzo, guest speaker from Virginia, spoke at the business meeting
on behalf of the Southern Division AFS. Laura Amond from the Nashville Convention Visitors
Bureau also spoke at the business meeting about holding the 2009 National AFS meeting in
Nashville. Incomming officers were elected and recognized as follows: Ed Scott (TVA)
president, Dr. Jim Layzer (TTU) president-elect, Tim Churchill (TWRA) past-president,
and once again Amy Wales (TVA) secretary-treasurer.
The banquet took place on the night of March 2, and began with an outstanding meal
prepared by the staff at Fall Creek Falls. Awards were presented for the Best Student
paper (George Sholton, TTU), Friend of Fisheries (Margo Farnsworth, Cumberland River
Compact), Fisheries Scientist of the Year (Mike Bramlett, TWRA), and
Lifetime Achievement (Dan Sherry (TWRA) and Dr. Richard Strange (UT)).
